Allison Anders

Allison Anders, Ph.D. (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Professor in the Cultural Studies of Educational Foundations program. She completed her doctoral work as a Samuel M. Holton Fellow in the Culture, Curriculum, and Change program in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Anders situates her work in education in social and political theory, social justice and human rights. Her areas of interest include: sociology of education, narrative theory, feminist epistemologies, pedagogies, and methodologies, and cultural studies. She teaches graduate courses in qualitative research and sociology of education, and her current research involves the collection of educational narratives from incarcerated youth. In 2007 The Graduate Education Advancement Board awarded her the Impact Award for her research on students and correctional education in North Carolina prisons.
