Michael Waugh

Michael Waugh is a Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Instructional Technology, Health, and Cultural Studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He has been involved with electronic networking since the 1980s. His primary research interest is in establishing the impact and long term value of instructional interactions on electronic networks. Recently, he has begun to study the factors related to the successful implementation of distance education/on-line learning.

A particular area of interest to Dr. Waugh is examining how computer networking can be integrated into teacher education programs in order to facilitate apprenticeship experiences between students, teachers, student teachers, professors, private sector businesspeople and other individuals interested in participating in the educational process. Dr. Waugh has been involved research on models for fostering Teaching Teleapprenticeships among undergraduate and graduate students and practicing K-12 teachers and K-12 students in order to enhance university teacher preparation programs.
